CELEBRATING THE HOLY SPIRIT (PART 2)
C
Anything that draws you closer to the Holy Spirit takes your Christianity higher; it takes your Christianity to another level. The more revelation you have about the Holy Spirit, the more fruitful you become especially if you put the revelations to use. Remember that until you apply the knowledge you acquire, it will not be power. It is the application of that knowledge that gets things done. It is the application that really makes knowledge translated to wisdom. If you store up enough wisdom of God in your heart, you are laying a very sure foundation for a strong, fruitful, blessed and successful life.
Section A
HOLY SPIRIT AS GOD
Some people have an erroneous view about the Holy Spirit; error is such a terrible thing that if not checkmated, it can result in terrible limitations.
- The Holy Spirit is one of the Persons in the Godhead; the triune head, the trinity. There are people who will tell you outrightly that there is nothing like the trinity. Usually, they are very forceful about this, to the extent that if you are not careful, they may confuse you. Typically, such people are very aggressive in their approach so when you come across such a person, just open your Bible and show them the truth. 1 John 5:7-8, “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.” We have God, the Father, God the Son (Jesus is the incarnation Word), and God the Holy Spirit, the three are one. In other words, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit has its foundation in the word of God. Every theology must submit to the sovereignty of the word of God. Gen. 1:26 is another scripture that establishes the trinity, “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.” In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth, but the earth was without form and void, the Holy Spirit had to brood over the earth after which God said, “let there be”. Here, you can see God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit in action, in other words, the triune was actively involved in creation. The trinity is not a New Testament ideology, it has always been there right from creation. We serve only one God. Deut. 6:4, “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD” but there are three persons in the Godhead – three-in-one. In nature, it is not difficult to express; take a look at water, whether it is liquid in form of water, or in a solid form as ice or in the form of vapour, it is still water. The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and co-equal with the Son.
- The Holy Spirit as God was highly involved in Creation. Gen. 1:1-2, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” We need to celebrate the Holy Spirit because he is the spirit of transformation; the Holy Spirit can transform voidness into form and give it shape, colour and beauty. Is there any area of your life where you are sensing voidness, emptiness, colourlessness or shapelessness? Allow the Holy Spirit to brood over and take over. Then, of course, ‘God said’. If you want to experience transformation, you need to learn to speak, the Bible says, ‘and God said’. Stop speaking your fears, stop magnifying the negative, stop emphasizing the unsatisfactoriness of things. God said, ‘let there be’ but before God spoke, the Holy Spirit had to move. Allow the Holy Spirit to move.
