OPERATION 18:18

2019 OPERATION 18-18 (DAY 8) – CELEBRATING THE WORD OF GOD B(I)

Text:  Isaiah 5:11-14, John 1:1

One of the wisest counsels that Jesus gave in the bible was not taken. He told the young rich man that came to Him to sell everything he had. But, before Jesus told him that, he asked the rich man some questions which he answered. Jesus commended him but said to him that one thing remained that he should sell everything he had and follow him. The man did not do it. He went home sad. God knows your idol. Whatever you cannot release to do the will of God has become your idol. Anything you cannot forgo to be at the center of God’s will for your life is your god. There is a serious departure from the will of God today.

I have come to the realization that those who need the presence of God the most are those whom the devil succeeds in taking away from God. He uses this strategy of isolation in order to open them up for attack. Anytime, you come into the presence of God, you schedule another season of showers of blessing. Your coming into God’s presence is a seed and for every seed, there is a harvest. Seed is not limited to money; as a matter of fact, money is the smallest seed you can sow.

The greatest seed God gave to man is the word of God. That seed had to become flesh. The word came and dwelt with us. The best way to celebrate Christmas is to celebrate the word of God. There is absolutely nothing spectacular about 25th of December. Jesus was not born on that day. If you read Church history, you will find out that all the ceremonies that were built around 25th December are ceremonies that celebrates idolatry. A lot of people are sending Xmas messages instead of Christmas because they don’t know that there is a serious spiritual warfare to remove the Christ of the Christmas. The name that the devil fears most is that Christ. We don’t have to wait till 25th December to celebrate Jesus. Who is Jesus? In the beginning was the word, the word was with God and the word was God. The word was made flesh and lived among men. Jesus is the incarnate word of God. We had earlier established seven qualities of the word of God.

Qualities of the Word of God (Contd.)

  • The word of God will surely come to pass. Matt.5:17-18, “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets; I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For verily i say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.” The word of God must be fulfilled because it originates from God. One of the things that make me respect the bible is fulfilled prophecies. The one that gave the word is the one that controls the universe, the one that is sovereign over all. He is the Omnipotent, Omniscient and Omnipresent God.
  • The word of God endures forever1 Pet.1: 25. The word of God does not change with time. It can change circumstances but cannot be changed by circumstances. The word of God is enduring. It is self perpetuating. Every circumstance bows before the word of God because the word of God is powerful, it is full of majesty. It breaks the cedars of Lebanon, it thunders. See Psalm 29

If you want to know the superiority of the word of God, subject the principles or the philosophies of man to the simple word. Before going for MBA programme, I had already done my doctorate degree in Theology. I discovered that what you can use one sentence to dissolve in the word of God, a professor will dance around it for hours and end up confusing himself and everyone else without proffering any solution. The wisdom that is loaded in the word is superior to any secular wisdom. We don’t have to be apologetic about it. When God has spoken, who are you to argue? Who is an expert? An expert is one who goes on learning more and more about less and less until he knows everything about nothing. How do you receive the word of God? It is not by intellect. Any time God speaks, even if you have a different opinion just obey.

A lot of people are celebrating Christmas without Christ but how do you celebrate the word of God?

  • Study the word.
  • Believe the word. To believe the word, you have to eat it. You are becoming what you eat. It is not enough to believe the word; you have to live what you believe.
  • Obey the word. The word that has become flesh in you will produce results first and foremost in your life and then produce transformation of your world.

PRAY-
Dear Heavenly Father, i worship you. I celebrate your wisdom in giving us your word. Grant me the grace to be complete in obedience to your word and to the promptings of the Holyspirit all the days of my life in Jesus’ name, Amen.
