THE WONDERS OF HEAVEN I

We need to talk about heaven more that we are doing at the moment, we need to think more about heaven. The Church needs to teach about heaven more than she is doing at the moment. The Church seems to be concentrating more on this earth which is transient and is about to pass away. We have more messages that are earthbound than messages that prepare us for our glorious home. I believe that this is a serious error. I see this producing skewed Christians, it needs to be corrected. Where a man’s treasure is, there his heart is. Since heaven is such a wonderful place, our hearts should be heaven centered. In our sleep we should be operating from the realm of heaven. We ought to be more heavenly minded than earth minded. Back in the early 1970s, messages from the pulpits prepared us more for heaven than messages that are being preached today. Let’s get more fascinated about the wonders of heaven.

  1. The first wonder is the wonder of what is not going to be there. Rev. 22:1-5, “And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and his servants shall serve him: And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.” Heaven is the headquarters of dominion over darkness. Those who get there will walk in comprehensive dominion and they shall reign. No darkness. The very light of God will shine; the light that proceeds from the throne of God and the Lamb. Meditate on the kind of glory that is in heaven. One of the things that will be no more is ‘curse’. Think about a place where there is no more curse. The curse that was pronounced as a result of the fall of man which brought about everything that is evil – recession, repression, disharmony, disease, depression, hardship, destruction and so on. Everything that is bad was as a result of that curse. Heaven is curse-less. Labour with nothing to show for it will be gone. Suffering will be no more, pain – gone, poverty – gone, scarcity – gone, inflation – gone. Everything that is evil will be gone. There is no sorrow there. No sin. Think about an environment where there is no sorrow, no sin, no sickness, no disease, no death, no infirmity, no devaluation, no distress. Sin will not make it to heaven. Anything that is defiled will not make it to heaven. If you understand the impact of sin upon an environment, you will begin to appreciate a sin-free environment. Think about the impact of sin on this earth and then you will be able to see the wonders of a sin-free environment. Sin thrills and then kills, sin assassinates, sin leads to nakedness, sin cuts short the glory, sin devaluates, demotes and ultimately destroys. Heaven is such a glorious and wonderful place that there will not be any sin there. May the Lord take us there in the name of Jesus. No one can make it there by their own righteousness; it is only through the blood of Jesus Christ that all our sins shall be blotted out so that we can make it to heaven. Nothing defiled will make it to heaven. Rev. 21:8 says, “But the fearful, the unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whore-mongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” I pray that none of the people reading this will miss the wonders of heaven in the mighty name of Jesus.
