24.      He is Our Portion.
Gen. 15:1, “After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram, I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.” When we discover Jesus Christ as our exceeding great reward, we will stop chasing shadows. Until we come to the realization that Christ is all that we can desire and appropriate, until we come to that realization, we will still be chasing and eating forbidden food which I call ‘swine’s food’. It is only Jesus that can give you the fullness of satisfaction. There is a hole in the heart of everyone which only God himself can fill. Jesus Christ is our ultimate fufillment. It is to God through Christ. When we discover Christ as our portion, we will find an inner peace and satisfaction that nothing else can give. Eph. 3:20 says, “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.” God is able to do far above what we ask. God operates in the realm of limitless possibilities, boundless blessings. Nothing is as satisfying like a close relationship with God through Christ. Solomon married seven hundred wives and had three hundred concubines. There was a deep hole in his heart that only God could have satisfied. Unfortunately, he thought that women could fill that void.

Many years ago when I decided to leave Jesus, the first thing that left me was inner peace. I eventually repented and returned to Christ by the mercies of God. There is absolutely nothing out there. There is a special type of peace and joy that comes to you when you are at the centre of God’s will for your life. I sought for truth and I found Jesus. He delivered me. I am not ready to trade that for anything. Anyone who misses Christ can never have comprehensive success in the real sense of it. That is why we need to treasure our relationship with Christ. I noticed that many people who go to Church are quite lackadaisical about this. May the Lord give you a special encounter this season in the name of Jesus.
