2021/2022 OPERATION 18-18 DAY 7G (CONFRONTING IDOLATRY II)

Why does God hate idolatry? Idolatry misrepresents God. Idolatry demeans the image of God. Idolatry makes a fake out of the thrice Holy God. God not only hates but punishes idolatry because it contravenes his command; “Thou shalt have no other gods before me” (Exo 20:3). Like pride and lying, idolatry is a very cheap, common but very dangerous sin. According to Rev 21:8 “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” That is why the church needs to deal with idolatry and you don’t deal with it with kid’s gloves. Anywhere you find idolatry, there must be corruption and perversion.

From the scripture above, it is obvious that idolatry is a sure gateway to hellfire. To overcome it, you need to receive Jesus Christ as your only Lord and savior. Enthrone him and be so fanatically in love with him, that the idea of substituting that love for anything else does not even remotely exist. This is what spiritual maturity is all about. Fall in love with the only living God and his son Jesus Christ. Make God the only object of your devotion. Establish a personal relationship with him through his son Jesus Christ Jesus promises in John 14:23, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them”

ACTION POINT

Give your life to Christ. Say the simple prayer below:

Dear Heavenly Father, I worship you. I acknowledge that I am a sinner. Please have mercy on me and forgive all my sins. Jesus Christ, son of the living God, I unreservedly surrender my life to you. I confess that you died and rose from the dead for me. Please be my Lord and personal savior, and grant me grace to live for you all the days of my life. Thank you so much, Lord Jesus. I proclaim I am born again. Amen.
