RETURN TO THE CROSS I

In the presence of God is fullness of joy; anyone looking for joy where the presence of God is not is embarking on a very futile journey and just wasting resources. That is exactly what the world is doing, looking for joy in everything and everywhere except where true joy can be found. The Holy Spirit spoke to me lately that you cannot find love outside truth. What is the spirit of truth? Jesus Christ is truth personified. Jesus Christ is the incarnate word; the word that was made life.

The spirit of truth is the Holy Spirit. True love, agape, can only be found as a fruit of the Holy Spirit. There are different types of love; eros, storge, philia and agape. Eros is the erotic type of love. It is very important in marriage but don’t take it as the real love; it also exists between animals of the opposite sex. It is the love that exists between two people of the opposite sex.

Every true child of God must learn to crucify lust and the best place to do this is on the cross. That is why Jesus told us in Luke 9:23, “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me”. The most endangered ministry in every Church is the choir. Only those who are carriers of the Holy Spirit know something about love. Love is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. No Holy Spirit, no agape. It is the love that ‘’makes’’. You cannot find what you have not defined. The world is upside down because the Church, which should have laid this foundation, has left the main thing.

You can only find truth at the cross; the cross is the greatest display of mercy and truth. It is the meeting place between mercy and truth. If you throw away the cross, you crucify truth. Love minus truth is equals to LUST (love – truth = LUST). The foundation of every love must be truth. “For other foundation can no man lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ” (1 Cor. 3:11).  The cross is the foundation of Christianity. A cross-less Christianity is a worthless Christianity.

The cross of our Lord Jesus Christ is God’s prescription for every malady emanating from the fall of man. It is on the cross that the first messianic prophesy was fulfilled (Gen. 3:15). The seed of the woman bruised the head of the snake. The blood that flowed from the feet of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ destroyed the curse on the soil and has redeemed us to have sanctified feet so that we can crush the head of every snake. That was why Jesus said, “Behold, I give you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you”. It takes sanctified feet to crush the head of the snake.
