VIRTUES OF THE CROSS 2E – (UNDERSTANDING WORSHIP I)

God wants to raise worshippers; he is not looking for workers but for those who will worship him in spirit and in truth. Those are the people God is seeking and you can become one of them. This is the essence of this message, may you optimize and put it to use in Jesus’ name.

Why do you think the devil attacks the cross? The essence of the cross was attacked in the Garden of Eden. How? The truth of God’s word was attacked. God is love. The paths of God according to Psa. 25:10 are the paths of mercy and truth. The cross is the meeting point between mercy and truth. If you distort truth, then you have finished the essence of Christianity because Jesus is the Way, the Truth and Life. No one comes to the Father except through him. The way of the cross is the way of eternal life. It is the way of dominion. It is the way of comprehensive success. May we never miss it in the name of Jesus Christ. It is so easy for a believer to get into error and the bad thing is that such a person will think that he or she is still standing. 

Remember that it is a sin to give worship unto any person. Never you give your worship to anybody. Worship is not to man and whenever any man come to worship you, be wise. Quickly return it to God. May the Lord grant you grace to make the right decisions. Henceforth, whenever the will of God crosses with your will, may you learn to submit in the name of Jesus. That is what God demands. You can override the will of God but that will amount to stubbornness and according to the word of God, stubbornness is the same as witchcraft. Anti submissiveness is witchcraft. The Bible says the rebellious live in dry places (Psalm 68:6). The easiest way to get into dry land is to be rebellious. Nobody can help such a person.

Lev. 2:11-13, “No meat offering, which ye shall bring unto the LORD, shall be made with leaven: for ye shall burn no leaven, nor any honey, in any offering of the LORD made by fire. As for the oblation of the firstfruits, ye shall offer them unto the LORD: but they shall not be burnt on the altar for a  sweet savour. And every oblation of thy meat offering shalt thou season with salt; neither shalt thou suffer the salt of the covenant of thy God to be lacking from thy meat offering: with all thine offerings thou shalt offer salt”.  

Our worship must go to God only; only he deserves our worship one hundred percent. Leaven represents pride. Jesus said beware of the leaven of the Pharisees. He was teaching about the pride of the Pharisees. That is one of the things you crush on the cross. Salt is not only for taste, it is for seasoning, for healing and for preservation. Salt refers to covenant relationship. Everything you do in God’s kingdom must be born out of a covenant relationship. Every offering you give must be born out of a covenant relationship. 

What is a covenant? Covenant is an agreement that is binding between two or more parties. That agreement is part of your worship. When you submit your will to the will of the almighty, you are worshipping. The meeting point is the cross – the will of God in union with the will of man. It produces great result. Remember that you need the sacrifice more than God; everything he does is to uplift us and correct the mess that was made by the first Adam. 

Pray –

• Everlasting and most merciful Father I praise and magnify your holy name. I thank you for the greatest miracle of salvation through the death, burial and resurrection of your dear son Jesus Christ.
• I ask you to accept me and grant that all my worship will ascend to your throne of grace as sweet-smelling savor. Deliver me from selfishness and pride in Jesus’ name. Amen
