WHO IS YOUR SHEPHERD? IV

John 10:27-28 says, “My sheep hear my voice and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand”. The sheep does not follow the voice of the stranger. This is very fundamental. The instructions you follow determine whose sheep you are. Whose instructions do you follow? That is your shepherd. Today, it is very difficult to shepherd people. Every true shepherd is a warrior who does not fight for himself but for the flock.

Jesus Christ is the shepherd of sheep; he is not the shepherd of cows, lions, eagles or goats. What is the nature of the sheep? Sheep are quiet, gentle, meek, obedient and innocent! A lot of pastors have missed this and that is why the Church is upside down today. Many pastors are no longer raising sheep but lions and eagles. There is danger in this. If you don’t know the Lamb, you don’t know Jesus Christ and you are not a Christian at all. The nature of the Lamb is meekness which is not synonymous with weakness. Meekness is concentrated power deliberately yielded to the control of the Holy Spirit.

The true Shepherd, the greatest Shepherd that ever lived, Jesus Christ – the eternal Son of the living God – gives eternal life. Without him, there is no life. He came that we might have abundant life.

Seven facts about your Shepherd
  1. Your Shepherd determines your provision.
A lot of people love Psa. 23. The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want – I shall not want of his goodness, I shall not want of his blessings, I shall not want of his provisions – I shall not want of any good thing. He refreshes me, he restores my soul and leads me beside the still waters and so on.
  2. Your Shepherd guarantees your safety.
The presence of your shepherd guarantees your safety. Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil, for thou art with me. Safety is not the absence of danger but the presence of God in the midst of it.

Pray –

  • Heavenly Father, I thank you for sending your son to die for me. Jesus, I enthrone you as my Lord and personal deliverer. I ask you to guide me through the skillfulness of your hands till I become all you want me to be and accomplish all you want me to accomplish, and leave nothing undone that I should do. I proclaim that through you I shall do valiantly and make heaven as last in Jesus’ name. Amen.
