Things that God cannot do

4. God cannot break his covenant; if he does he will violate his nature of integrity.
Psa. 132:11, “The LORD hath sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne. If thy children will keep my covenant and my testimony that I shall teach them, their children shall also sit upon thy throne for evermore.” In spite of the fact that the lineage of David was not truly faithful in keeping the covenant of God, God didn’t break his part of the covenant. God is not a covenant breaker and this is why those who claim to be children of God must not be covenant breakers.

5. God cannot lead in the path of unrighteousness.
We all have responsibility to make right choices and to own up, take responsibility for our actions. Stop buck passing. Psa. 23:3, “He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake”.

6. God cannot fail.
He is too faithful to fail. Matt. 24:35, “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.” Not even one word of God can fail.

7. God cannot lose in any battle.
Psa. 24:8-10, “Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.” He is the Lord of hosts. Take note that hosts is in plural because he is the Lord of the host of heaven and Lord of host of hell so he cannot lose any battle. Whenever we approach God, we must understand his nature before we start making outlandish statements.

8. God cannot deliver the unforgiving.
In the place of deliverance, the Holy Spirit has some responsibilities, the deliverance minister has some responsibilities while the counselee also has some responsibilities. You cannot deliver anyone who is not ready to be delivered. There are principles in deliverance and this is why easy believism is dangerous. God cannot deliver the unforgiving. If you decide to embark on a very long fast while still holding someone in unforgiveness, you are only embarking on hunger strike. A proverb in my local dialect says a person who holds another down is also down. A lot of people in the Church today are holding others in unforgiveness; they go to Church and go back home the same. Such people go about saying, “what God cannot do does not exist”. Matt. 6:14-15, “For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” In the parable of the unmerciful servant, his master bound him and handed him over to tormentors. Today, it has been proven that many incurable diseases originate from bitterness and unforgiveness in the heart. Heb.12:15, “Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled.” Modern day preachers of grace sometimes forget this scripture. You can actually neutralize grace and fall out of it! Grace is never a licence to sin but a supernatural empowerment to be Godlike, to live above sin and say no to every appearance of evil. May you receive that empowerment in the mighty name of Jesus. If you are holding anyone in unforgiveness, give yourself a special gift – release the person!  Matt. 5:23-24 says, “Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift” (NKJV). Prosperity teachers often forget to mention this scripture. Giving does not cover anybody’s trespass.

• Father I thank you, I appreciate and magnify your name for who you are and what you have done for me. Grant me the grace never to hold anybody in unforgiveness all the days of my life. I ask you to supernaturally empower me to live above sin, self, satan, and all his works, agents and machinations in Jesus’ name. Amen.
