SANCTIFY YOURSELF IV

When I finished my secondary school, those who had grade one got automatic teaching appointments as auxiliary teachers back then. I was one of them and was sent to a particular secondary to teach in my home town at the tender age of eighteen. During the course of my discussion with my colleagues in that school, one particular teacher came up with one very funny philosophy of life. According to him, ‘life is a tragedy rather than a comedy, periods of gaiety are mere intervals and not the actual scene of the play’. Understand that your belief counts, your belief determines the decisions you take.

This evil philosophy propelled him to make the decision that if his philosophy was right, the best thing for him to do is always to get away with the best. This is a very dangerous philosophy. It means that you can do anything as long as you are not caught!

The school was a co-educational college where he was asked to teach biology at his own request. He started messing up to the point that we, his colleagues, became so ashamed of him. He was messing up with the girls in the school; he was still doing this when I and the others gained admission to the university. He eventually gained admission to the university but that was years after we did.

What you believe determines the decisions you make. However, every decision has a price. Any philosophy of life that is not in line with the word of God cannot give you comprehensive success. You can only succeed to fail.

Sanctification means to be set apart unto God. Sanctification means becoming a vessel of honour fit for God’s use. God cannot use just any vessel. Zech. 14:21, “Yea, every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah shall be holiness unto the LORD of hosts: and all they that sacrifice shall come and take of them, and seethe therein: and in that day there shall be no more the Canaanite in the house of the LORD of hosts.” Whatever anyone tells you about life, be wise enough to subject it to the scrutiny of the word of God. If it is not consistent with the word of God, don’t take it. The only person that cannot be corrected is the person who rejects the wisdom of God as enunciated in his word. Ensure that you run away from such a person.

Pray –

  • Heavenly Father, I worship and adore you. I bless and magnify your name for your love towards me. I celebrate your wisdom and ask you to guide me through the skillfulness of your hand, till I become all you want me to be and accomplish all you want me to accomplish in Jesus’ name.
