DOMINION OVER SPIRITUAL WICKEDNESS 1C

Spiritual warfare is not optional. Notice the spiritual wickedness in high places in the scripture above (Eph. 6:12). Who are the principalities, rulers of darkness of this world, spiritual wickedness in high places? Principalities are administrators of evil in any environment. When we moved into our environment newly, we were attacked by the principalities of that environment. No place is empty or innocent. The moment you enter an environment, they will spot you in the realm of the spirit and then come to ‘welcome you’.

One of the cases we handled many years ago was that of a Sister who had a precious daughter. She sold almost everything she had in order to sponsor her daughter to the United Kingdom to further her studies. The girl landed at the airport at UK and on arrival, the witches in that country sent an agent to her. The very next day, the girl was back in Nigeria under a mysterious circumstance. Mysterious because how she got back to Nigeria, she couldn’t explain, the only thing she remembers was that a woman took her on arrival at the airport. Spiritual wickedness is real.

When human beings decide to give their lives to the devil, they cease to be human. Unfortunately, they are the people the Bible refers to as those “in great power”. Why? It is because the devil recruits and positions them in corridors of power to perpetuate his nefarious activities. Things don’t get better where satanic agents are in leadership. That is why the Bible says you should flee from every appearance of evil.

Where was the Church when the rod of the wicked was rising to take over the realm? God gets his job accomplished on earth through righteous authorities empowered by the Holy Spirit. The devil, on the other hand, gets his job done through unrighteous authorities empowered by the spirit of witchcraft which is the spirit of wickedness. Wherever you find idolatry, you find extreme wickedness. It is fundamental to take note of the fact that the spirit realm controls the physical; anything that overwhelms you in the realm of the spirit has defeated you physically unless you pray. One of the reasons why some people go to bed and not wake up is because of the kind of encounters they have in their dreams. However, in Christ Jesus, we are more than conquerors. “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds) casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” (2 Cor. 10:3-5). “The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe” (Prov. 18:10).

Luke 10:19, “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you“. The power referred to in this scripture is authority (exousia). We have dynamic power which is dunamis and we have exousia which is authority. Authority is delegated power. If you have authority and you don’t know how to exercise it, you will not optimize the benefits. That is the problem of man. Adam had authority but he allowed the snake to enter into the garden.

Some theologians believe that the first sin was abdication of responsibility. To some extent, they are correct, but I believe that the first sin was ingratitude. It so easy to abdicate if you are ungrateful because if you are ungrateful, you can never be a worshipper. What is worship? Worth-ship, placement of value. If you love God to the extent that the very idea of substituting that love for something else does not even remotely exist, why will you trivialize his word? Even before he gives the commandment, the reverential fear of God will make you obey.
