WORSHIPPING GOD WITH UNREPENTANT HEART III
Some people say that the voice of the people is the voice of God. I cannot find this in the Bible. This is one of the things that the devil is using to confuse the world today. The voice of the people, many times, is actually the voice of satan. Many times, the voice of the people is the voice of hell. Many times, the voice of the people is the voice of rebellion. The wise don’t submit to the voice of the people, they submit to the word of God. There are a lot of things that are accepted today which are actually wrong and which have weighty implications in swerving people’s decisions – the will of the people to do the wrong which is what the devil specializes in.
Another popular saying which is not correct is – heaven helps those who help themselves. Where is this written in the Bible? The voice of the people is NOT the voice of God. Many times the voice of the people is the voice of rebellion. Saul was afraid of the people but he did not tremble at the word of God. There is serious danger in that.
Saul was always a partial person. His appeal to Samuel in 1 Samuel 15:25 looks like repentance but it was not deep enough. Partial repentance is not true repentance. Many times, people say, “I am sorry” but it is not from the heart. True repentance must have two components:
- A deep feeling of remorse
- A turning away completely 180 degrees from one’s position to the right position. Two Hebrew words for repentance metanoia and metalomai must be present in repentance. It is not only turning away from a position of unrighteousness, you must turn to a position of righteousness.
Samuel was not moved by Saul’s repentance because Samuel was operating under a very high unction. It would appear that Saul was more interested in his image, how the people perceived him than pleasing God. That is the type of worship we have today, very superficial. It is all about what the people think about you and not about how God feels. Surface to surface relationship!
“And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not return with thee: for thou hast rejected the word of the LORD and the LORD hath rejected thee from being king over Israel”.
1 Samuel 15:26 KJV
No one can ever be king who is walking in rebellion. Any king who walks in rebellion to the word of God is the king of rebels, the king of witches (rebellion is witchcraft).
“And as Samuel turned about to go away, he laid hold upon the skirt of his mantle, and it rent. And Samuel said unto him, The LORD hath rent the kingdom of Israel from thee this day, and hath given it to a neighbour of thine, that is better than thou. And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent: for his is not man, that he should repent”.
1 Samuel 15:27-29, KJV
We must be careful how we worship God. God is a spirit and those who worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth (John 4:23-24). You cannot be a man pleaser and be a true worshipper of God. If you are always trying to do things that are acceptable in the sight of people, you are a politician. God always goes beyond the surface to the motive. The motive is the spirit, if the spirit is not holy, it cannot be of God. If you give anything to God with the wrong motive, it may not amount to anything in the sight of God. God goes beyond the act. Christian ethics is deep, it is not a surface thing, it is not superficial.
Pray –
- Heavenly Father, I thank you. I bless and magnify your precious. Grant me the grace to always worship you in spirit and in truth all my life.
