WORSHIPPING GOD WITH AN UNREPENTANT/IMPERFECT HEART 2C

In our previous discourse, we had dealt with worshipping God with an unrepentant heart. We did a case study of King Saul and how ultimately that sent him to seeking for help where help can never come. The reason why we study the lives of people is so that we can learn from the mistakes of others and avoid the same mistakes they made. That is the only reason why history is relevant; it is so that we can learn and have wisdom.

I have discovered that it is not in the accumulation of knowledge that one really benefits. Knowledge cannot be very beneficial to those who have not learnt to apply what they have accumulated. So, it is in the application. It is better to have a little knowledge that you can apply than to have all the knowledge that you cannot apply.

My greatest desire is to raise worshippers and if I can do that, I would have fulfilled the ministry that God has committed into my hands. It does not come cheap though. If it were an easy thing, God will not be seeking for those who worship him in spirit and in truth. We will do a study of the first people who worshipped God in the Bible.

“And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD. And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD. And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of that fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering: But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? And if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him”.
Genesis 4:1-8, KJV

One of the things I found very recurrent in the life of Adam is the ‘I’ factor. You don’t find much of the God factor in the life of Adam. These were the two people created after the first man and the first woman. Cain was a farmer while Abel was a shepherd.

Things to take note of:

1. Worship is very fundamental in our relationship with God.
At the heart of worship is the value you place in your relationship with God. How much is your walk with God worth? What is the God factor in your life, if it can be quantified, what is its value? True worship is being so fanatically in love with God that the very idea of substituting that love for anything else does not even remotely exist. May God take us to that point in the mighty name of Jesus. At the heart of worship is LOVE. How much love do you have for God? When you woke up this morning what was the first thing that came to your mind? You cannot be in love and be passive. Love is something that you are passionate about. We are all propelled towards what we love no matter how we pretend. You will desire the presence of the one you love so much that you will not want to leave.

PRAYER
  • Ask God to make you a true worshipper of the living God.
