2023/2024 OPERATION 18-18 – (COVENANT OF DIVINE FAVOUR I)

God did not promise that we will walk on red carpet, anyone who preaches that is a preacher of easy believism. The Holy Spirit engaged me in a conversation recently; he told me that many times, error is in priority, putting the cart before the horse. Error, at times, comes in terms of emphasis, if you emphasize the trivial and make it the whole thing while de-emphasizing the main thing, you will produce skewed people.

He went on to say that if you teach people the things that accompany salvation (there are things that naturally accompany salvation) and you make that your main focus, you will produce idolaters. This is because if you teach people the things that accompany salvation without first and foremost ensuring that they are saved, and you make it the only message which most prosperity teachers do, you will create a problem.

Prosperity is a gift from God. One of the many things that Jesus settled on the cross is the destruction of the power of the curse that was pronounced when man fell, the power of distress, disease, demotion, disharmony and so on leading to death and destruction. These powers were broken on the cross. The cross of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is still the greatest display of the favour of God, of the mercies of God and of the grace of God.

You must, of necessity, teach people the cross first before teaching them the things that follow salvation. This is the problem of modern day preachers. The ultimate thing is that people focus on things. They look at the hand of God but they are far from God, yet they want the things that follow salvation and not the things that would gladden the heart of God. They are seeking for the hand and not the heart and certainly not the face of God. That is the error. We must be very careful to run away from this.

The greatest display of the favour of God is the cross of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ. All that man deserved to get, God nullified, God waived them. All that he never deserved to have, God gave to man. The greatest thing you can be is to be a son of God. Sons go for inheritance and not toys. If you teach people the things that follow salvation first, they will focus on toys and miss the inheritance. It is a very slippery path. A true son does not go for toys. Children go for toys while sons go for inheritance. This is why today you will notice that people have very minimal commitment to the things of God. If you are not committed to God, how can you be committed to the things of God?

The Lord told me that if you are not ready to be a person of integrity, don’t aspire to get married because you are most likely to break the marriage vows within twenty four hours and you will do nothing about it. Breaking of the marital vow has severe consequences.

God is a covenant keeper and he takes covenants seriously. When I see how people break covenants, I marvel. It is ignorance gone too far. Whenever a covenant is broken, demons gain legal access and as soon as they move in, they steal, they kill and destroy. Marriage requires integrity. It takes being a person of integrity to keep covenants because at the heart of integrity is consolidation of character. Part of integrity is integer – wholeness, truth in the inward parts. God desires truth in the inward parts (Psa. 51:6).

• Heavenly Father, thank you for sending your son to die for me on the cross. I ask you to grant me the grace to set my affections on the things above, in Jesus’ name.
