THE FOUNDATION OF GIVING 2G
The third material that we can build on is the redemptive wisdom of God which is represented by silver. Silver represents redemptive wisdom of God which is superior to the wisdom of man or the wisdom of any intellectual. Every lion will worship the Lamb, ultimately.
1 Cor. 1:27 says God uses the weak things of this world to confound the strong and the foolish things to confound the wise. You don’t need any strength that the Holy Spirit cannot give you; you don’t need the strength of the lion. You don’t need the wisdom of the world.
The Church is operating below bar because she is becoming worldly and drifting from the wisdom that is from above.
The other building materials are wood, hay and stubble. Imagine what will happen when fire confronts wood, hay or stubble. Nothing will be left. This teaching is not just about the foundation of giving, it is about foundation of living and the foundation of Christian service.
What is your Christian service worth? Christian service is measured in terms of motive. This is what differentiates the Christian ethics from all others. In worldly ethics, the world will hail you no matter what you do in the Church. Meanwhile, God sees it as nothing if the motive is not right. Most of the things that people promote today even in the Church don’t make anyone get a gold.
Rom. 8:8 says anything that is done in the flesh cannot please God. If you throw away the cross, you cannot be a disciple of Christ because everything you do will be done in the flesh. Wood, hay and stubble represents pride – pride of redemption, pride of revelation, pride of satisfaction. Pride is one of the gateways to hell. That was what destroyed Lucifer. That was what dethroned his throne. That is what is promoted today in the Church.
In God’s kingdom, the way up is down. The cross is the greatest symbol of submission. It is the place where the will of divinity crossed with the will of humanity and for the first time humanity submitted.
Only the things that are done in the spirit have any eternal value. John 4:34, here you will see purposeful living.
“Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.”John 4:34, KJV
That is Jesus. What he lived for was to do the will of the Father. If we are indeed Christians, let us live as Jesus lived. That is the true meaning of being a Christian. Christianity without Christlikeness is empty.
John 9:4, “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work”. Time flies. If we have anything we have to do, let us start doing it now. Every opportunity you have to post gold, ensure that you don’t miss it. Every opportunity to post sliver, don’t miss it. Every opportunity to post precious stone, don’t miss it. Don’t let anything defile, demote or destroy your treasure. Anything that is done in the flesh is nothing. The theology of giving to get can only produce idolaters. It has no place in the Bible. Christianity is not showmanship. It is living like Christ. Jesus rode on a colt to Jerusalem, no showmanship.
