The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree; he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing; to show that the LORD is upright; he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him”. (Psalm 92:12-15 KJV).

God wants His children to flourish, but many times they settle for less. In one of our meetings some years ago, I was lead to ask those who wanted to be rich to raise their hands up. Almost everybody raised their hands; not knowing that the best was yet to come. It is good to be rich. It is better to be wealthy, but it is best to flourish. Don’t settle for less.

It is pertinent to note that it is the righteous that shall flourish. Righteousness is the state of right- standing relationship with God. The only righteousness God accepts is the righteousness of God received through faith in Jesus Christ. According to Isaiah 64:6:

…we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousness are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away”.

Notice that it is our righteousness, not our sin that are as filthy rags before God. Trying to achieve righteousness through self-efforts is legalism. God hates it because it negates the reason He sent His dear Son Jesus Christ. To die on the cross for our sins. 2 Corinthians 5:21 KJV, says:

For he has made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we may be made the righteousness of God in him” glory to God, we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

Are there areas in your life you are still struggling to please God? Have you made and broken some new-year resolutions? God sees your innermost desire to please Him. But the only acceptable way is through faith on the fInished work of his son at the Cross of Calvary. You can go to the cross today and exchange your frailties for His strength, your filthy rags of self-righteousness for his garment of righteousness, majesty and strength. God wants you planted in the house of the LORD. He wants you to be fat and flourishing, and keep bearing fruits, even in old age.

You can be made righteous today if you surrender your life to Christ. Say the simple prayer below:

Dear Heavenly Father, I worship you. I acknowledge that I am a sinner. Please have mercy on me. And forgive all my sins. Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, I unreservedly surrender my life to you. I confess that you died and rose from the dead for me. Please be my Lord and personal saviour, and grant me the grace to live for you all the days of my life. Thank you so much Lord Jesus, I proclaim I am born again. Amen.

Heavenly father, I worship you. Thank you for the generous provisions you have made for my well-being here and hereafter. I appropriate the victory of your dear Son Jesus at Calvary, as my victory. I proclaim that I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Father, oil my path to greatness. Grant me the grace to ‘flourish’ like the palm tree, and may I keep bearing fruits even in old age. Thank you so much. Your word is settled forever, in Jesus name. Amen

From today, may your path begin to drop fatness, and overflow with the blessings of the living God in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
