DOMINION OVER DARKNESS (PART IX) HOW TO STAY RAPTURE READY

4. Don’t let your Christian life and the quality of your relationship with God be determined by the problems, pressures and challenges of life. A lot of people are caught up in this; they follow the direction of the pressure. In search of solution to the pressures of life, they are ready to do anything and in the process allow the love of God in their heart to wax cold. Matt. 13:21 “Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended”.

One of the things that make people to swing like a pendulum in their walk with God is because they are not properly foundated on the word. This is based on the theology of seeking God only for what you can get; looking for a God to serve you. We need the God to love, to serve, rather than the God that will serve us. This God should be the centre of gravity of our life, the God who loves us so much, that He gave His Son to die for us. By the time you get to this level of relationship with him, it doesn’t matter the circumstances around you, you will have the assurance He will neither leave nor forsake you. This is the meaning of worship.

Matt. 11:2-6 “Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples, and said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another? Jesus answered and said unto them, go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see: the blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me”. If your relationship with Christ is based only on fair weather, then you are a weak Christian. Honesty is the best policy. You must tell yourself the truth. If you have not the spirit of truth, then you are not a Christian at all.(Romans 8:9 TLB)  The Holy Spirit is the spirit of sanctification. Until you know him as such, there is a limit to the extent to which you can walk with God.

Put these keys to use immediately. Clean up. Anytime God wants to move you up, the prescription is to clean up. Look inwards. Stop blaming the enemy for everything. Your greatest enemy is self. Go to the cross and mortify the flesh; that is where Mr flesh is crucified so that you can say, like Apostle Paul, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless, I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me”. Gal. 2:20. The prescription of Jesus is “If any man come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me”. Matt. 16:24.
