CELEBRATING THE HOLY SPIRIT
- The Holy Spirit assures us that we are Children of God. Rom. 8:15, “For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.” A lot of people don’t really know how to relate with God as their Father as such, they behave like miscreants. Moslems don’t believe in the sonship of Jesus and the fatherhood of God. They claim that God cannot beget and cannot be begotten. This is what differentiates us (Christians) from them. This also explains why they don’t understand love. Of course, love is a fruit of the Spirit so if you don’t have the Holy Spirit, you cannot love, what you can have, at best, is lust which is carnal. When I lost my father at the tender age of nine, I was so devasted that I didn’t know that I would survive the trauma; everything became empty. Eventually when I came to terms with the reality, I locked myself up in the room and there I cried and told God, ‘you are now my Father’ despite the fact that I didn’t know much about God at that time; we were Catholics. I testify that from that time till now, he has never disappointed me. If you have not learnt how to relate with God as your Father, please start now. For those who were not fortunate enough to have a good earthly father, this might sound funny and a bit difficult for you but if you know the heart of a father towards his children, your perspective will change and you will begin to see how much God loves you. You can have boldness to walk into your Father’s room and make a request that only you can make just because he is your father. You must have this revelation; that you are not alone, you have a Father. A father cares, a father protects, a father provides, a father directs, a father rebukes, a father should be an enforcer of righteousness, a father must not spare the rod. The greatest thing a father should provide for his children and family is right direction. This is the greatest role of leadership. A father who cannot hold the hands of his wife and children and lead them to God has failed. Husband is not a title but a ministry. Marriage is not for boys!
- The Holy Spirit is the One that will uphold us to the end. This revelation gladdens my heart; I love it very much. This is the reason why you need to take your relationship with the Holy Spirit very seriously. If you miss Holy Ghost fellowship, you have missed it. Holy Ghost Fellowship is not another denomination; it is sweet partnership with the Holy Spirit, a partnership that gets sweeter by the day. It is a very deep walk with the Holy Spirit. Eph. 1:13-14, “In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.” I have a seal of the Holy Spirit on me. Quite a number of people are carrying other seals. What seal are you carrying? You don’t really know a person until you know the seal that that person is carrying. If you don’t know the spirit behind a person, you don’t really know that person. Incidentally, the seal you bear is what will determine where you will end up. Seals talk about possessions, seals talk about identity, seals talk about who you are and where you belong. You will eventually end up where you belong. Who owns you? Whose seal are you bearing? If you are wearing a denominational bangle, please remove it. Your denomination does not own you. If you are a denominational person, then you have a long way to go. Which Church died for you? Which denomination paid for your redemption? A better seal to wear is, ‘I belong to Jesus’. Eph. 4:30, “And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.” The Holy Spirit has sealed you unto the day of redemption. It is the seal of the Holy Spirit that will lead you to the trump of heaven, it is the seal of the Holy Spirit that will make you fly. But what if you have grieved him? Any pastor that is not leading or pointing you to Christ is cheating you.
