CELEBRATING THE HOLY SPIRIT (PRAT 2)
- To be carnally minded is enmity with God and to be carnally minded is to be worldly minded. I was personally offered so much just to drop the call of God upon my life, but the Holy Spirit helped me to say No! That is why when I see people drop the call of God to pursue the things of the world, I shriek. Quite a number of people are succeeding to fail. If you follow the spirit of the world, you may accomplish so much but all your accomplishments will be built on hay, wood and stubble and cannot stand the fire of God’s test. If you follow the spirit of the world, you may occupy any worldly office and do all manner of things. At best the spirit of the world will give you glamour but the Holy Spirit is the spirit of glory. Choose between glory and glamour. The world knows how to celebrate their own in contrast to the people of God who do not know how to celebrate their own. Unfortunately, if you don’t celebrate what you have, it will lose value in your hand and before long, you will start looking for what other people have. That is exactly what is happening in the Church today; instead of celebrating the Holy Spirit, they are busy celebrating the spirit of the world. Which is a bigger office: the pastoral office or the presidential office? Jesus asked a pertinent question, “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Mark 8:36. Once the call of God is upon you, you have chosen a path, you cannot choose this path and still walk the other path, it does not work that way. The spirit of the world and the Holy Spirit don’t walk together; there is no meeting point, they are mutually exclusive. Once you make the mistake of towing the path of the spirit of the world, the Holy Spirit leaves you; you grieve him. The greatest thing that ever happened to me is my walk with the Holy Spirit. Whose assignment are you doing on earth? Who is your master? A worldly Church is a good for nothing Church. Did the Apostles ever compromise? No! Did Jesus ever compromise? No! So, from whence did the spirit of compromise originate? Jesus was so radical in his approach; he was a transformer looking for where to happen. The Holy Spirit will make you a transformer and not a conformer.
- The Holy Spirit as God is omnipresent. I may be limited in time and space, but the Holy Spirit is not limited. Psa. 139:7-12 says, “Whither shall I go from thy Spirit? Or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. If I say, surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shineth as the day: the darkness and light are both alike to thee.” Darkness cannot comprehend the light of God. There is no place you can hide that God will not see you, no matter how dark the place is. By the grace of God, I have had to pray for people I have never met before over the telephone severally, thousands of miles away and spectacular miracles do take place in what I call ‘over the phone miracles.’ Who did it? How did it happen? The power of the Holy Spirit cannot be limited by time and space. It happened as a result of the omnipresent power of the Holy Spirit. He is everywhere at the same time. The power of God flows and hits the person wherever he or she needs it, deals with the situation and gives a release; and then a miracle takes place.
