SEVEN TOXIC ATTITUDES TO AVOID IN THE WILDERNESS I

The whole world is now a wilderness. It is quite surprising to me that a lot of people are in the wilderness yet, they are oblivious of it. How can you navigate successfully in an environment you don’t understand? How can you have victory in an environment that you have not discerned? The wilderness of this world does not get better with time, it gets worse. Whoever expects things to get better in the world is not a true student of prophecy. The good news, however, is that it is not the environment that defines you if you know the God you are connected to. You are the one that will define the environment only if you know the God you serve. You can navigate successfully in any environment where you find yourself.

Life is not a bed of roses. Jesus knew this truth when he called his disciples to empower them in Luke 10:19, “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” Jesus did not call his disciples to walk on red carpet. Every child of God is called to warfare and not fanfare. Everyone born of a woman is born into a raging warfare with many battles. Today, people want to be entertained but there is no time for that where a very fierce battle that is not fought with rubber bullet is raging. It is called the battle of the ages. It started as far back in Genesis chapter three.

There was a time when the world was a garden; today however, the world is a wilderness. A perfect God created a perfect garden and placed a perfect man there with only one command. Meditate on this. The way you operate in a garden is quite different from the way you operate in a wilderness. If not properly tended, a garden can overgrow to become a wilderness.

A wilderness is full of reptiles, overgrown shrubs, and a place where every wild beast can freely operate. You can easily miss your way in the wilderness.

Anything toxic is deadly and it is very easy to manifest a toxic attitude. You have to work on yourself if you want to have victory in the wilderness. Warfare is not optional because you are born into it, what is optional is victory. You need to be intentional in the decisions you take during a war situation. Warfare is not won through propaganda, it is won through strategies. It is won by ability to take strategic decisions and act strategically.  The word ‘strategy’ is derived from the Greek word, ‘strategos’ which denotes the role of a general. Every general is supposed to be a strategist. You can be a general in God’s victorious army.

Pray –

  • Dear Heavenly Father I worship and adore you in Jesus’ name. Grant me the grace to identify any toxic attitude in any area of my life, and empower me by your spirit to overcome it. Make me a general in your victorious army in Jesus’ name. Amen.
