SEVEN FACTS ABOUT TEMPTATION VII
5. Every temptation will revolve around three things CONT’D
Learn to guard you heart. Mind what you give attention to. It will do you a lot of good to have a deep quiet time with God; personal one on one. Forget about the crowd that gathers every Sunday morning; your one on one in your closet will prepare you for a fruitful Christian life. That is where you learn to hear the voice of God. That is where God shows you deep things. That is where he engages you and shows you secret things which belong to those who serve him. May heaven take note of your yearnings and make the resources available that will make you have comprehensive success and overcome the tempter whenever he manifests in Jesus name. We must learn to tell the devil, ‘get thee behind me, satan’ whenever he brandishes the sword of temptation.
C. Pride of life. In the Garden of Eden, the serpent told Eve that she should go ahead and violate the word of God by eating the fruit and that by so doing, her eyes would open and she would become like God. This is why it is a terrible thing not to be a worshipper. If Eve were a worshipper, she would have realized that God had already made them everything they needed to be, God created them to be like himself. This is one of the weapons the devil is using to attack people today. May you never bow to satanic pressure in the name of Jesus.
Pray –
- Lord, make it impossible for me to bow to satanic pressure in the mighty name of Jesus. Make it impossible for any member of my family to bow to satanic pressure in the name of Jesus. Insulate us, O God, from the pressure from the pit of hell. Grant us grace in Jesus name.
Luke 4:9-13, “And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence: For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.” The devil tried to make Jesus show off by asking him to demonstrate and engage in a show – pride of life. Whenever you allow pride to creep in, you are usurping God and positioning yourself to be worshipped. It is misplacement of worship. Pride itself is idolatry of self and that is why God resists it. Meekness is not synonymous with weakness. The true meaning of meekness is so much power under the control of the Holy Ghost. Your real strength is the one that you choose not exhibit.
Pray –
- Father, please help me. Do not allow me to exhibit nonsense. Grant that the only thing I will exhibit is Jesus Christ, and him alone crucified in Jesus’ name.
