Sunday service

The prosperity message has been abused and over emphasized today. Error, sometimes, is not in substance but in emphasis. It has been so over emphasized that if care is not taken, a lot of preachers will end up producing skewed people. It is one of the easiest ways to get earthbound. Back in the early seventies when we gave our lives to Christ, the Christianity then was quite different from what is obtainable today. Christianity then prepared us for heaven; you could not tell a lie and be comfortable with it, it was not possible. You would lose your peace until you truly and genuinely repented. However, the eighties and nineties brought another type of Christianity; each with its own peculiarities and songs.

The Church departed and started pursuing everything that is down here, she started to de-emphasize the message of salvation which is the message of the cross. Instead, the Church started promoting the message of ‘give me your gold and I will make you a god’. Literarily, there was a shift. Some pastors today even drop their pastoral calling in order to pursue earthly office. Which is superior? You don’t drop the call of God to pursue other things. You drop other things to pursue the call of God. There is serious departure. A lot of people will be busy pursuing earthly things when the trumpet shall sound; they will be so busy that they will not even hear the sound of the trumpet.

The rapture is going to be a spiritual encounter. Jesus said two people would be grinding at the mill; one will be taken while the other one will be left behind. One apparently heard the sound of the trumpet while the other did not hear.

Pray –

  • Lord, I do not want to miss the sound of the trumpet. Do not allow me to be busy chasing shadow and miss the real thing. Help me to be alert, help me to be sensitive. Help me to deal with distractions. Deliver me from every distraction that is out there. Grant me grace in the name of Jesus.
  • Supernaturally empower me to be at the right place at the right time and to focus on what has eternal value. Do not allow me to build on quick sand; grant me grace to build on Christ the solid rock. Thank you blessed Lord, in Jesus name.
