WINDOWS OF HEAVEN 2

TEXT: MAL. 3:8-12 (TLB)

“Will a man rob God? Surely not! And yet you have robbed me. What do you mean? When did we ever rob you? You have robbed me of the tithes and offerings due me. And so the awesome curse of God is cursing you, for your whole nation has been robbing me. Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so that there will be food enough in my Temple; if you do, I will open up the windows of heaven for you and pour out a blessing so great you won’t have room enough to take it in! Try it! Let me prove it to you! Your crops will be large, for I will guard them from insects and plagues. Your grapes won’t shrivel away before they ripen, says the Lord Almighty. And all nations will call you blessed, for you will be a land sparkling with happiness. These are the promises of the Lord Almighty.”

The issues raised in the scriptures above are too weighty to be overlooked. “Will a man rob God?” The very idea of robbing the Lord of Hosts should make one tremble. Why does God call it robbery when you default in tithe? The answer is found in Leviticus 27:30 (KJV) “And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord’s: it is holy unto the Lord.” We desire to go to the New City, but we want to dictate to God how we want to get there. God has His own masterplan. Notice verse 13 of Malachi 3 (TLB) “You attitude toward me has been proud and arrogant” says the Lord.

Imagine what will happen to you if you fail to pay the rent for your apartment, say for just one year. Ten percent is your rent for the privilege of living on God’s green earth. Do you know it is a blessing to pay tithes? It is an honor to give to a king. It is double honor to give to the Kings of kings. Can you really pay for the air you breathe? Those who refuse to pay their tithes make things unnecessarily tight for themselves.

My prayer for you is may you never take any action that will cause the windows of blessing to be shut against you in Jesus’ name.

ACTION POINT

Determine in your heart that you will never rob God in tithes and offerings.

Dear Heavenly Father, I worship you. I acknowledge that I am a sinner. Please have mercy on me and forgive all my sins. Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, I unreservedly surrender my life to you. I confess that you died and rose from the dead for  me.  Please be my Lord and personal savior and grant me the grace to live for you all the days of my life. Thank you so much Lord Jesus. I proclaim I am born again. Amen.

• Everlasting and most merciful God, the most high, Lord of Hosts, my heavenly Father, I worship and adore you. In your mercy o God, I ask you to overlook all my shortcomings and cleanse me with the precious blood of your dear son Jesus Christ. Make me holy, pure, and acceptable to you. Renew a right spirit within me. Give me the perfect heart of a true worshipper. Grant me the grace to walk hand in hand with you, so that your perfect will, will be established in every facet of my life. I trust you to work out your plans for my life, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
