TRUE FAITH AND TRUE WORSHIP I

The Bible says give thanks in everything (1 Thes 5:18). When it makes sense, praise the Lord, when it makes no sense, praise the Lord. As a matter of fact, it is when it makes no sense that you should praise God the more because that is when your faith is taken to another dimension. It is easier to praise God when everything is working well for us but the Bible says we should praise God in everything. You might ask, why should I praise him? What am I praising him for?

Everyone knows how to praise God after receiving answer to their prayers. There is no more need to exercise faith when the answer is there. However, if you start praising God when you have not received answer to your request that is when your faith is fired up.

The Holy Spirit has been teaching me lately that most faith are built on things and at times I believe it is part of the mistake of isolating the scriptures. If you read the definition of faith in Heb. 11:1, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”. If you hold on to that definition alone as your definition of faith, you will build your faith on things. If you read down that scripture, you will see another dimension of faith. You will discover that every true hero of faith was a pragmatic lover of God.

If you understand the true definition of worship to mean being so desperately in love with God that the very idea of substituting that love for anything else does not even remotely exist, you can then say that every hero of faith was a worshipper of Jehovah. So, on what should we build our faith?

I have been asking some questions lately – why are many Christians no longer in love with God? Why are many Christians not committed? Why are many Christians chasing things? Why do people believe that their success lies on the things they accumulate? Why are people ready to throw away their salvation to pursue lower things? There are so many whys begging for answers. I received answer to these questions from the Holy Spirit, and what is it? The Church stopped raising worshippers and instead started raising workers. You don’t teach a worshipper faith.

The song writer says, My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness, I dare not trust the sweetest frame but wholly lean on Jesus’ name. On Christ the solid Rock I stand all other ground is sinking sand, all other ground is sinking sand. It is very dangerous for you to build your faith on things because you will become an idolater, a chronic one at that. You will always be looking for things; using God to get things. You will go to God only for what to get, worshipping things and using God. That is the greatest problem of the Church today.
