VIRTUES OF THE CROSS 3A – (UNDERSTANDING WORSHIP II)

It’s so sweet to walk with God if you have no agenda of your own. The reason why God left us here on earth alive and well is so that we can reach out, bear fruit. May we not forget this. It is very easy to park and start playing Church and allow the Church run on autopilot. We are here to bear tangible fruits. It is good to work while there is still time because “the night cometh, when no man can work” (John 9:4^b). Time flies. Is there anything God is laying in your heart to do? Please don’t postpone it. Start now!

What is your testimony this year in terms of fruit bearing? Who have you impacted? How many souls have you won into God’s kingdom in the last twelve months? This is the real thing that matters to the kingdom of God. We must take note that everyone will give account of his or her stewardship one on one. Most of the time when crowd gathers, a lot of preachers tend to start responding to the crowd instead of doing the work of ministry.

I pray regularly that God should not bring anyone who is not ready to make heaven to this ministry. There is no point gathering a crowd that is going nowhere. If you know how close we are to the rapture, you will prioritize. Are you happy with the level of your commitment to the things of the kingdom? Are you happy with your level of worship? Today, we have workers, where are the worshippers? God is not looking for workers, God is looking for worshippers. 

John 4:23-24, “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth”. If you don’t understand worship, you will walk through this life pleasing yourself and pleasing everybody but displeasing God. If you don’t understand worship, you will miss God. Everyone worships something.

You don’t have what it takes to set the standard of the worship of the triune God, you don’t determine how to worship him. He sets the standard. The only worship that God accepts is spiritual worship.

What is worship? ‘Worth-ship’ – devotion, placement of value, absolute value, being so fanatically in love with God that the very idea of substituting that love for anything else (your career, spouse, children, relatives, family, money, profession, ambition etc) does not even remotely exist. God is a one hundred percenter. Your devotion is not for man or any institution of man. The only One you can actually trust is God. The only word you can trust as one hundred percent is the word from above – the word of God. The only prescription you can trust is divine prescription because it is not done through the microscope. It is done through the all-knowing, all-seeing One.

• Eternal most Holy God, creator of the whole universe, owner of my life, I reverence and worship you. For the rest of my life grant me the grace to never worship anything else but you in Jesus’ name. Amen.
