LET GOD ARISE III

Jer. 14:20-22, “We acknowledge, O LORD, our wickedness, and the iniquity of our fathers: for we have sinned against thee. Do not abhor us, for thy name’s sake, do not disgrace the throne of thy glory: remember, break not thy covenant with us. Are there any among the vanities of the Gentiles that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers? art not thou he, O LORD our God? therefore we will wait upon thee: for thou hast made all these things.”

Use this scripture to bring repentance concerning corporate idolatry. Everything happening in the nation today is as a result of idolatry. Unfortunately, there is also idolatry in the Church because of the nature of the prosperity message. Two types of Christianity came in the early seventies – one was real the other was ‘the other gospel’. ‘The other gospel’, unfortunately, had the upper hand and brought in a lot of people into ministry.

The truth is that if you fail to raise worshippers, you will end up raising idolaters. The Church stopped raising true worshippers and started raising idolaters. If you make money the purpose of ministry, then, there is nothing left. Jesus did not die to make billionaires out of us, he died to reconcile us to God and make us true worshippers. There is so much emphasis on money in the Church today. “Give me your gold and I will make you a god”. This started in the Old Testament when Moses went to the Mount Sinai to consult with God. In his absence, Aaron told the people to bring their gold so that he could make them a god.

There is so much contradiction in such a message which, unfortunately, attracts a lot of crowd. After listening to the prosperity message, the people always go back the same way they came because they are not ready to change. You cannot do business with such people, if you try it, they will dupe you because they don’t have the spirit of God in them. Such people, eventually go into politics, some of them even climb the ecclesiastical ladder and become pastors and bishops. However, none of them can exhibit any Christian virtue. You can only find Christian virtue in the cross which unfortunately is seldomly preached.

If you become a worshipper, a true child of God, nobody will cajole you to give. My happiest moment is when I write a big cheque to give back to the One I love, the One who gave the money to me in the first place. I trust God to even start giving me much more in different currencies. The wisdom is in getting God involved in your business. I know what it means to make the King of the universe a shareholder in my business. If you cannot give God your money, how can you give God your life?

Any time you are paying your tithe and your heart is troubled; know that you are an idolater. It only means that you love money more than you love God. This is part of satan’s trick because there are some battles you are not supposed to fight! Do you have what it takes to rebuke the devourer? People are fond of singing ‘Abraham’s blessings are mine’, but I ask; “are you willing to sacrifice your Isaac in obedience to God’s instruction?” Abraham paid tithe to Melchizedek. The richest man that ever lived on earth was Solomon. His final conclusion after all said and done was, “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.” (Ecc 12:13).

Pray –

  • Heavenly Father I thank you for the generous provisions you have made for my wellbeing here and hereafter. I thank you for the efficacy of the precious blood of your son, through whom I have eternal life. Grant me grace to be prompt and complete in obedience to your instructions all the days of my life in Jesus’ name. Amen.
