SANCTIFY YOURSELF 2C

Leadership is direction. Every flock will eventually end up in the house of their owner. Psalm 23:6 says “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.” That is the conclusion of the matter. However, it is only those who have God as their Shepherd that will end up there. It is not an all comers affair. A lot of people love to appropriate this Psalm but they forget about their responsibilities.

This message is intended to guide you on the paths of righteousness so that you can optimize what God has given to you. The greatest prescription for success is the one given by the One who created the heavens and the earth in his word. You want to have comprehensive success, this book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt mediate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all (not some) that is written therein: for then thou shalt make your way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success (Josh. 1:8).

Josh. 3:5, “And Joshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves: for tomorrow the LORD will do wonders among you.” Do you want to see the wonders of God in every facet of your life? The divine prescription is “sanctify yourself”. It is your responsibility and not the responsibility of the shepherd. The role of the shepherd is to point the direction. He is not a true shepherd who is not leading the flock in the right direction. You must not speak from the two sides of your mouth, if you do this, it only points to the fact that things have gone terribly wrong.

Truth ceases to be truth once it ceases to be absolute. If it is not absolutely true, it cannot be truth at all. There is nothing like partial or relative truth. What is truth in one part of the world is truth in other parts and will continue to be truth forever. Truth is eternal. Are we all free to do our will? Yes! God gave us free will. Every sheep has its own will but for every decision, there is price. Every action is a seed. Are you ready for the harvest? As long as the earth remains, seed time and harvest shall not cease (Gen 8:22). If you are not ready for the harvest, don’t sow the seed! Every decision has serious consequences because decisions schedule seasons.

Heb. 13:12-13, “Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate. Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach.” Today, we have a lot of encampments; camp of denominationalism, camp of tribalism and so on. That is one of the problems of the Church and one of the reasons why there is no more sanctification. The Church has become a laughing stock. This is not supposed to be. Jesus went beyond the camp in order to sanctify, so you need to go beyond the camp; go beyond your family, go beyond your career, go beyond your profession.

The standards of God are very high because he operates in the highest. If you try to bring the standards of God to your size, it is to your own detriment. Man loves to bring everything that is exalted to his size and that is why you need to be very careful of who you follow. Any leader that is not pointing you up will ultimately end you up!

Pray –

  • Father I worship and adore you in Jesus’ name. I deliberately yield my will to you and say, “Let your perfect will be established in every facet of my life so I can rightly say the Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” Amen.
