Purpose of Marriage

5. To avoid sexual immorality.
1 Cor. 7:2, “Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.” Just imagine how the society would have been without marriage. It is only within the context of marriage that sex is permitted. Anything outside of it is immorality: it is perversion and has serious spiritual and biological consequences. Something worse than HIV happens when sex takes place outside marriage. I can tell you that authoritatively based on my experience in the deliverance ministry. This is one of the ways by which people tie themselves. There is something called evil cord. God created marriage in order to avoid this. The devil perverts everything that God wants to be sacrosanct. May you never align with the devil in Jesus’ name.

6. To reflect the relationship between Jesus Christ and the Church.
Eph. 5:22-23, “Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.” Jesus is the head of the Church. The body of Christ is the Church. The husband is the head of the woman. The woman is the body. The smallest unit of the Church is the home. Do you know that the marriage institution was established before the Church? The first institution God established is marriage. Don’t play Church while your marriage is not working, that is hypocrisy. Get it right. What is your family altar like? How is your family altar? Every altar has a measure of fire.

7. Synergy.
One can chase a thousand, two, ten thousand (Deut 32:30). If you are a success as a single person, I can assure you that you will succeed ten times more when you are properly established in marriage. Matt. 18:19 says, “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.” This is a blank cheque from God and is one of the reasons why the devil likes to cause problems between husband and wife. Do you know that there is nothing that can stop the two of you if you agree? There is nothing you cannot achieve if both of you agree. There cannot be marriage without spiritual harmony. That is not marriage, it is fake. You can have uniformity without unity. Amos 3:3 says, “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” If the two of you agree, nothing can stop you, no demon can stop you.

Any marriage that is not fulfilling the purpose of God is not worth it.

Pray –

• Lord, I thank you for your blessings upon our marriages. I give you all the glory. Great is your faithfulness. I worship and adore you, I bless and magnify your name.
• Lord, I want to fulfil your purpose; I want to have a wonderful blissful marriage that will fulfil your purpose. Help me in the name of Jesus Christ.
• Grant that my marriage will succeed in every sense and fulfil the purpose for which you established it in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.

Prophecy

• You will not miss God in your marriage in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. You will not miss his mark. You will not suffer in your marriage in the name of Jesus. Your marriage shall be blissful, blessed, fruitful, and productive to the glory of God in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Thank you mighty God in Jesus name. Amen!
