WINNING IN THE FIELD I

God is not only interested in our actions; he is more interested in our reactions. It is a very serious signal when someone gets to a level where he or she is no longer sensitive to the conviction of the Holy Spirit. It implies that something has gone terribly wrong. If you get more excited about other things like your business connections and accomplishments while the things of God no longer excite you, it means the focus of your worship has shifted. When it affects worship, it affects everything. If you don’t get it right in worship (worth-ship), it means that idolatry has set in.

Whatever you place side by side or above God in your heart has become your god. No matter how hard you try, you cannot hide it because love is passionate. True worship is being so fanatically in love with God that the very idea of substituting that love for anything else does not even remotely exist. Can you say this about yourself? That should be the main business of the Church – raising true worshippers not necessarily workers. God is looking for worshippers – those who worship him in spirit and in truth (John 4:24).

Pray –

• Lord, in your mercy, please overlook our shortcomings and preferences which are very obvious. Have mercy and cleanse us from pursuing things that should be chasing us in the mighty name of Jesus.
• In any way that we have strayed into chasing other gods and placing other things above you in our hearts, we repent and ask that you have mercy upon us according to your love and your kindness, according unto the multitude of your tender mercy, please blot out all our transgressions. Wash us thoroughly from every impurity and purge us, make us holy and acceptable to you in the name of Jesus.
• Hear our cry, O God, attend to the voice of our supplication. Be thou our strong habitation whereunto we may continually resort. Have mercy on us and help us to get it right with worship.
• Help us to be fanatically in love with you and may we never substitute that love for anything else in the name of Jesus. As we do, let your glory shine through us and let your light be revealed in us and through us. Have your way Lord, and perfect all that concerns us in Jesus’ name.
• Where we are missing it, O God, help us to walk hand-in-hand with you to align with your will. Make us people who are God chasers in this generation and help us to fulfil your purpose. Thank you mighty God, we give you glory. Through you, we shall do valiantly in Jesus’ mighty name we pray.
