WINNING IN THE FIELD II
God’s work is a fiery work and only fiery forces can move it forward. You cannot be in love with God and not be passionate about the things of God. It is not possible. It burns in your bones. That is something about the anointing we need to understand. You cannot carry the fire of the presence of God and be lukewarm.
Exo. 17:8-16, “Then came Amalek, and fought with Israel in Rephidim. And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in mine hand. So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. But Moses’ hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword. And the LORD said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven. And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovahnissi: For he said, Because the LORD hath sworn that the LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.”
SEVEN STRATEGIES FOR WINNING IN THE FIELD
The field is a battleground. You need not send an invitation to a battle before it surfaces. The worst thing that can happen to anyone is to be unprepared in a battle field which is already mature and so the person is taken unawares or worst still, the person starts living in denial. It is very easy to get into this. In this fellowship, we have a lot of beautiful flowers but in the midst of the flowers are different types of anti-snake plants.
Every garden attracts snakes; be it the garden of the heart, be it the garden of the home. The field is not just a garden but a garden which is overgrown; it is an uncontrolled garden and the natural habitat of not only snakes but different species of snakes (python, anaconda and so on). Many times people get into their professions unprepared. I get a lot of calls even from overseas from people who go into the field without discerning the environment. Suddenly, it dawns on them that it is not everything that glitters that is gold. They get to realize that they were called into things that they never bargained for.
The field represents business, occupation, career, trading, ministry, profession, missions and anything you do.
1. Identify your Amalekites.
Who are the Amalekites? The Amalekites were actually the descendants of Esau. Esau means flesh and that is one of the reasons why Esau had to satisfy a carnal appetite which robbed him of his eternal inheritance. May this never happen to any one of us in Jesus’ name.
Pray –
- Heavenly Father, make it impossible for me to satisfy any carnal appetite that would rob me of my eternal inheritance in Jesus’ name.
Form the habit of praying this prayer regularly for yourself and over the life of your children and your loved ones, over every minister and over every missionary. Recently, I heard about the story of a lecturer who happens to be a pastor in one of the big Churches around who was involved in a sex for marks scandal in a prominent university. You must be able to identify your spiritual and physical Amalekites. The Amalekites were staunch and sworn enemies of Israel in spite of the fact that they were descendants of Esau. The battle between Esau and Jacob was so fierce that it became a generational issue. The hatred that Esau had for Jacob, he transferred to his descendants. Eliphaz, the son of Esau – Jacob’s brother, and his concubine Timna had a child named Amalek. If you fail to deal with the Amalekites, they need not send you a message that they are coming before they attack.
