OPERATION 18:18

2022/2023 OPERATION 18-18 – (THE POWER OF GRACE 1D)

A lot of people do not know that grace is very powerful. We grew up with the notion that grace is feminine in nature and therefore not associated with power. The common definition of grace is ‘unmerited favour’. That does not sound too powerful. I have walked through my Christian journey holding in my subconscious that notion of a grace that is not too powerful.

In the Old Testament, the Hebrew word, “Hesed” was used to define grace and it appears 38 times in the Old Testament. In the New Testament, the word, “Charis” defines grace and appears about 122 times. A very simple definition of grace is that it is an unmerited favour from the benevolent heart of Sovereign God. This is where the power comes from. God that is omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent. That is where the power is. The power of grace rests on the power of the almighty.

Someone described grace as an acronym for God’s richest abilities committed eternally (to man). I love to pray, ‘receive the grace over the lives of people’. When you have prayed all manner of prayer without much result, try grace.

You will find in the Old Testament God’s dealings with men, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Joshua, Ruth, Esther, Daniel, David and so on. You will notice that they prayed, “if I have found favour in thy sight …” If I want God to intervene in a particular way, I will pray;
“Father, if I have found favour in your sight, could you do this for me, let this mountain move. Let your glory be revealed. Touch the heart of …..”
“Father, if I have favour in your sight, let your glory be revealed in the life of every member of this ministry in Jesus’ name.”

If you have prayed and there seems not to be much happening, try grace.

The power of grace includes:

1. The power to save.

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast”.

Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV

The Greek word for salvation is a compound word, “Soteria”. This word is loaded with blessings: eternal life, prosperity, protection, provision, preservation, deliverance, healing and much more. Salvation is not limited to dying and going to heaven, it is loaded with a lot of blessings which we need to key into right here. It contains the blessing of deliverance from any form of danger, all manner of deliverance. Celebrate this. The cross of our Lord Jesus Christ is the greatest demonstration of grace. The message of the cross is dwindling in the Church today; the teaching of the cross has been confined to Easter period. The cross is the demonstration of every Christian virtue.
