QUALITIES OF GOD CHASERS (CONTINUED)

9. God chasers love what God loves and hate what God hates CONT’D.
Today, the Church is busy teaching lower theologies while the world is getting darker and darker by the day. The Bible says, without holiness, no one can see God. If your faith is not propelling you towards God’s character of holiness, check it. If faith is not connecting you enough to the holiness of God, check it. When it comes to hating what God hates, the Psalmist said,

“Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee? I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies” 

Psalm 139:21-22, KJV

Why must you hate evil with perfect hatred? If you study the nature of evil, you will discover why you must hate it. Evil is such an aggressive thing that it can never be gentle. You cannot handle evil with kid’s gloves. If you don’t hate it with perfect hatred, it will strike at you. Evil contaminates, whatever it touches gets contaminated. Evil contaminates in order to consume so evil will eventually consume those who condone it. Why does God hate sin? Your sin does not demean God in any way; God hates sin because of what it does to the object of his love. We are the object of God’s love. It is just like a father watching his son whom he loves so much mess himself up. Sin disrobes. Sin causes nakedness. Sin strips man of dignity and glory.

The Bible says all have sinned and have come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). You must recognize that the glory cover is the greatest cover ever, the moment you remove it, you are exposed to all manner of things including wild beasts.

“All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any”. 

1 Corinthians 6:12, KJV

Paul was saying that yes the grace of God makes all things lawful but it is not every lawful thing that is profitable. So, why should I get myself involved in things that will not add value, that will rubbish my testimony and make me open to satanic attacks or that will not promote the glory or the kingdom of God? We must be very careful that in our walk with God, we will always seek to do his will. This is one of the characteristics of God chasers. Ask, God, are you in this? If God is not in it, it may not necessarily be sinful but why get involved in what God does not back up. God chasers love what God loves and hate what he hates even to the minutest. If you don’t hate what God hates, you will allow things and the evil you allow in your environment will eventually catch up, distort and destroy the things you were called to protect. This is the reason why a lot of parents have lost their children to the hands of crooked teachers. It is becoming very difficult to raise godly children in a sinful environment. Even in business dealings, a lot of things have gone wrong. Sophisticated names have been coined to redesign bribery and other vices. As a child of God, you should feel defiled after some transactions that you know that Jesus will not endorse. There is no place for compromise. God will not change his rules because of anybody. He will not lower the standards of his word, he will not change his level of holiness because of man.

Pray –

• Lord, please empower me to love what you love and to hate what you hate. Do not allow me to lower the standards of your word. Grant me the grace to love what you love and to hate what you hate, and to love you above all else in my heart in the name of Jesus.
