WORD FOR TODAY

IT IS FINISHED

”Jesus knew that everything was now finished, and to fulfill  the scriptures said, ”I am thirsty.”

A jar of sour wine was sitting there, so a sponge was soaked in it and put on a hyssop branch and held up to his lips.

When Jesus had tasted it, he said, ”it is finished,” and bowed his head and dismissed his spirit.” (John 19:28-30)

Jesus Christ, Son of the Most High God is the fulfillment of the scriptures. When man sinned in the garden of Eden, God had many options,   one of which was to wipe out the Adamic Stock.  But He deliberately opted for mercy and love. The first messianic prophecy was pronounced by God in the garden of Eden when He addressed the snake in Genesis 3:15 (KJV).

”And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed, it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”

It was on the cross of Calvary that the seed of woman crushed the head of leviathan. The blood from the bruised heel of Jesus sanctifies our heels to trample upon snakes and scorpions, ”and nothing shall by any means hurt us” (Luke 10:19 KJV). The cross of Christ is a symbol of comprehensive dominion. Jesus says it is finished. Glory to God!

This implies:

– There is absolutely nothing more to add.

– ”I have fulfilled the will of my Father who sent me.”

– The purpose of my coming has been achieved.

– My mission has been accomplished.

– The laws and the prophets have been duly fulfilled.

– There remains no more sacrifice.

– There remains no more price.

Jesus was wounded that we might be healed.

The work of Calvary is a perfect work,  perfect in every respect,  perfect in every aspect. All is provided for us in the new covenant, sealed by the death of Jesus Christ.

Receive;  appreciate;  celebrate!  It is finished!
