DOMINION THROUGH DEATH AND RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST
Although victories are sweet especially if they are sweatless but I have come to realize that dominion is greater and sweeter because dominion is like victories that have been consolidated and sustained. If you have dominion, victory is cheap. There is so much darkness in Africa because the structure of idolatry in Africa is still in its primitive form. And anywhere you find idolatry, you will find darkness, curses, and operation of witchcraft.
Someone described poor as passing over opportunities repeatedly. How are you maximizing the wonderful opportunities God has given you? One of the regrets many people will have when they get to heaven will be that of wasted opportunities or unutilized potentials; potentials that God generously deposited in us that we failed to utilize. The year has progressed, how much treasure have you laid? What is your account reading in heaven? Part of the opportunities many people miss on a daily basis is the opportunity to win souls, opportunity to witness Christ, opportunity to share your personal testimony. You are an ambassador of Jesus Christ. Ensure that you lift up the banner.
1 Cor. 2:4-9 – the incarnation, life and death of Christ was planned by God before the foundation of the world. Acts 2:23 “Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain”. 1 Pet. 1:20 “Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you”. Everything that happened to Jesus Christ was as preordained by the Father. But satan did not understand this because he is not omnipotent, omniscient or omnipresent. If you have an ally in the person of the Almighty God, the omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent, whatever the enemy does will work for your good ultimately. Rom. 8:28 says “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose”. We must spend more time in worshipping God instead of magnifying what the enemy is doing. Align to the purpose of God and you will see his beauty as well as all the benefits enumerated below.
Because Jesus died and resurrected;
- We are divinely empowered to have dominion over sin. This is one of the first things that God empowered us to do through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is so fundamental. Sin is the foundation of every tragedy on earth. Somebody rightly defined sin as an acronym for satan in our nature and another person rightly defined it as an acronym for simple instructions neglected. The devil never understood the plan and purpose of God and so he ended up in accomplishing it. He allowed the only person who knew no sin to shed his innocent sinless blood; the very life of God was in that blood. “The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world”. John 1:29. If you can deal summarily with the question of sin from the foundation level, a lot of miracles will begin to happen supernaturally in your life. In the story of the paralyzed man in Mark 2, Jesus, instead of commanding the man to be healed directly, said, your sins are forgiven. Why? He is omnipotent. He already knew the origin or foundation of the problem. If you walk in dominion over sin, you will not be looking for miracles; miracles will begin to look for you. Jesus has made this provision available for us. 1 John 1:9 says “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”. If we confess, the provision is there.
- We are divinely empowered to have justification. Rom. 5:1 “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ”. What is justification? Justification is just as if we had never sinned. We are empowered to have a right standing relationship with God. God looks at his Son’s righteousness and imputes it to us who believe.
- We are divinely empowered to have power for godly living. 2 Cor. 3:18, 1 John 3:9 says “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin, for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God”. Dominion over sin does not suggest sinless perfection. It only means that sin will not have dominion over you. It means if you are truly born of God, you will not be comfortable with sin or make a habit of sinning. It means you will never be comfortable in an environment of sin. If you sin, you will lose your peace. It means you are carrying a seed of righteousness, a special seed that detests sin and sinful environment. From today, resolve never go to bed with an unconfessed sin in your heart.
- We are divinely empowered to have revelation of God’s truth. 2 Cor. 3:15-17 “But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart. Nevertheless, when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away. Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty”. The veil prevents people from beholding the glory of God. The spirit of truth is the Holy Spirit. What God did was to break the veil of separation so that you can have access to the holiest place. When Jesus shed his blood, the veil that separated us from the holy of Holies was torn. This means we can now enter; we now have access to the Father.TO BE CONTINUED
