DOMINION OVER DARKNESS (PART XI) DEALING WITH THE SPIRIT OF PERVERSION

Steps for dealing with the spirit of perversion

The spirit of perversion is one of the prevalent spirits in the world today; you need to understand this. There is no more difficult time to raise godly children than now. Perversion is in the air. In order to dominate this spirit, you must walk in dominion over it from the position of strength.

1. Understand the nature of the spirit of perversion. What you cannot understand you may not be able to withstand. Once you understand the nature, you have taken a step to dominating it. What are the features of perversion? (a) It is crafty, in other words, it is a subtle spirit. (b) It is highly seductive. (c) It is a lying spirit. (d) It is an evil spirit (e) It is an intelligent spirit. (f) It is a dangerous spirit. (g) It is a destructive spirit that comes subtly but its ultimate aim is destruction. That is why the best time to abort it is at the entry point; don’t even fix your mind on it.
2. Know the word of God. This is your personal responsibility; it takes discipline to do this. If you appreciate how your life depends on something then you will place more value on that thing. Know the word of God; hide it in your heart.
3. Eat good spiritual diet. It is not every spiritual diet that you must eat. A lot of messages today are earthbound messages, run away from such. You are becoming what you are eating. What do you eat with your eyes, ears and mind. Run away from unwholesome TV and internet diets; de-toy in order not to be destroyed. There are a lot of anointed ministers today that are spreading error, pray for them. Ask God to help them to return to the original gospel. Memorize the word of God, transfer it from your head to your heart and store it there, chew it regularly. “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success”. Josh. 1:8.
4. You must be born again; there is no short cut. Anyone who is not born again is already defeated in the garden. To be born again is to become a child of the second Adam. The first Adam was defeated in the garden of Eden but Jesus, the second Adam, defeated the snake first in the wilderness through the word of God, “it is written” and then again in the garden of Gethsemane.
5. Be addicted to God’s presence. Be a person of God’s presence. Today, people want his presents more than they want his presence; this is perversion. If you are truly in love with God, you will always want to be in his presence.
6. Like Daniel, pursue purity. Have a zero-tolerance for anything that is capable to perverting. Run away from every appearance of evil, determine like Daniel not to be defiled. Take a decision that you are not going to be defiled. This is important because if you carry satan’s food, he will definitely come for it. One of satan’s food is lust. Lust is satan’s greatest food. It is so terrible that satan (the serpent) will continue to eat dust even in the millennium while lions and other wild animals will be eating straw. Isa. 65:25. If you are being driven by lust, you are a candidate for the snake, kill lust before it entraps you – lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and pride of life. Take note that Jesus was tempted along these lines. Flee from defilement. Anything that defiles you attracts dust. Your spiritual countenance should always be shining, if you allow it to be defiled, the enemy will come for his food. If you become dust infected, you are virtually inviting the snake. This is why you need to clean up. The blood of Jesus Christ is the fountain that was opened for you; never remove yourself from the blood.
