DOMINION OVER DARKNESS (PART XIII) CONFRONTING WITCHCRAFT

In Acts 13:6-12, you will see how Apostle Paul confronted Elymas the sorcerer. “And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Bar-jesus: which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God. But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith. then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him, and said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord? And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand. Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord. Now when Paul and his company loosed from Pamphylia: and John departing from them returned to Jerusalem”. Elymas was a sorcerer who tried to confuse the governor when Paul was preaching to him. Paul pronounced a punishment upon him immediately and according to Paul’s word, Elymas went blind for a season.

Most leaders, including heads of governments and Chief Executives of organizations, have people who divine and enchant for them and that is why there is so much pollution and wickedness in the seat of power. What is the spiritual base that gives birth to their decisions and actions?, one should ask. They have people on their payroll who divine and enchant for them. Elymas was one of such but unfortunately for him Apostle Paul called down judgment on him. Sin must be judged. The sin you fail to judge in the congregation will spread like a plague, contaminate and eventually consume. This was what informed Apostle Peter’s judgment on Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5:1-11. It is because people don’t understand the nature of sin that they are no longer preaching against it. Many people now deodorize sin instead of preaching against it so that people will continue to flock to them. Those who have the boldness to preach against sin are usually labelled as judgmental. This is one of the reasons why there is prevalence of darkness and witchcraft operation.

Just as Apostle Peter rebuked Simon the sorcerer when he offered money to buy the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 8: 18 – 22),  you need to confront witchcraft before it consumes you. Whatever has been distorted in the spirit realm by witchcraft, you need to revoke and reverse using the authority of a believer.  Glory to God, Jesus has given us  power and authority  over all the power of the enemy. Luke 10:19 says, “Behold, I give you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you”.
