THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST 2D- SIGNS OF THE TIME

We can broadly categorize the signs of the imminence of the Lord into two: the older initial signs and the immediate present signs.

Initial Signs

1. Wars and rumours of war.
   Matt. 24:6, “And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.” We hear of the proliferation of nuclear weapons all over the world, more than enough to destroy the entire world. What brought about wars? What is the spirit behind wars? Was it in the original scheme of God for man? Wars came from the unregenerated mind of man. The tree of knowledge of good and evil was a dangerous tree. Immediately man partook of it, something in him acquired an evil nature, this is because you are becoming what you eat. Man, instead of using the creative nature of God in him to produce things that will be beneficial to him, now uses his mind in a distorted manner to produce things that can do good and also bring destruction. In nuclear science today, you can see some good applications such as power generation and so on, but what about the destructive aspect of it? The very fact that man has the ability to press a button and the entire world will sink under an explosion is fearful. The world has fought two world wars already and a third one is possible. Japan is yet to recover from the impact of atomic bombs that were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. That was then. Today we are in the age of artificial intelligence; science has progressed from transistors to integrated circuits, from integrated circuits to microprocessors, from microprocessors to artificial intelligence.
   
2. Famines.
   Matt. 24:7-14, “For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquake, in divers places. All these are beginning of sorrows. Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”
   I believe the gospel has already been preached all over the world.
   
3. Earthquakes.
   There have been several earthquakes in different parts of the world.
   
4. Pestilences and plagues.
   The earth is sick, old and winding down speedily. Unfortunately, there are a lot of dangerous weapons in the hand of the ungodly. This, you must discern because if you don’t, you might make costly mistakes. Look at the concentration of wealth, for instance. Most of the people in control of huge amount of money have no Christ in them. Who gave them the money in the first place? You will definitely use everything given to you by your owner to serve him.
   
5. False Christ and false prophets.
   They are all over the place; agents of darkness carrying the evil seal of their master looking for whom to corrupt, confuse and destroy. Luke 21:8 “And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.”
   Vs 11, “And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.” Please take note that every kingdom has prophets. It is not every prophet that is a prophet of Christ. There are prophets of baal, dagon, molech and so on. Do not be deceived. If the spirit is not the Holy Spirit, you have no business aligning; you have no business aligning with a gospel that is not given by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Heavenly Father, I thank you for the priviledge of knowing you. I ask you to help me never to align my will with the evil will of another person in Jesus name. Amen.
