THE BATTLE OF RODS – THE ROD OF THE RIGHTEOUS 1B

Whether you recognize it or not, the very day you were born into this world, you were born into a raging warfare comprising of battles. It is therefore not optional. What is optional is being an overcomer; you can choose to be an overcomer or you can choose to be overcome.

‘Rod’ in this teaching refers to a symbol of authority. Another word for rod is scepter. There are two general classifications of rods – the rod of righteousness and the rod of the wicked. Just as you have two types of authority – righteous authority and unrighteous authority. God gets his job done on earth through righteous authorities empowered by the Holy Spirit while satan gets his job done on earth through unrighteous authorities empowered by the spirit of witchcraft. The spirit of witchcraft is nothing but the spirit of manipulation, intimidation for the purpose of control.

Psa. 45:6-8, “Thy throne, O God, is forever and ever: the scepter of thy kingdom is a right scepter. Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. All thy garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia, out of the ivory palaces, whereby they have made thee glad.” These items – myrrh, aloes and cassia are fragrances of sweet smelling savour specially meant for the anointing oil, oil of gladness.

One of the characteristics of righteous authority is that wherever there is a righteous authority, things smell fine. Where there is unrighteous authority, things stink. Demons have odour; they stink. During some of our deliverance sessions when some demons are leaving, you can actually perceive their odour. Things not only stink when the unrighteous are in authority, they sink. Anything the devil is involved in can never end well. That is why it is wisdom to flee from every appearance of evil. Evil stinks, evil sinks. The only way things go whenever the unrighteous are in authority is downwards. The devil has a lot of evangelists, don’t ever allow them mesmerize you.

The rod of the righteous is the undiluted word of God. John 1:1, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Jesus Christ is the incarnate Word. He is our righteousness. The scepter of his kingdom is the right scepter. It is not enough to love righteousness, do you hate wickedness? Why must a Pastor fraternize with an antichrist? True holiness is not just loving God and doing your thing. It is loving God and going out of your way to do what pleases him. True holiness is loving God and loving what God loves and hating what God hates. The Bible says, without holiness no one shall see God. Tell me those whom you associate with and I will tell you where you are going. Tell me your leader and I will tell you how you will end. Take note that it is not only in marriage that we are not supposed to be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. One of the characteristics of evil is that evil will ultimately destroy itself; it has a self destructive capacity. Evil contaminates in order to consume.

Heavenly Father I worship you. Grant me the grace to love you above all other things in my life, to love what you love and to hate what you hate. Help me to break away from every ungodly relationship in Jesus name. Amen.
