2020/2021 OPERATION 18-18 DAY 9B (SEVEN REASONS WHY JESUS CAME)
SEVEN REASONS WHY JESUS CAME
- TO SAVE SINNERS CONT’D
God hates sin so much that when Jesus was carrying the sins of the world on the cross, he had to look elsewhere. He could not behold him and that was when Jesus cried “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani” (My God, My God why hast thou forsaken me?) Matt 24:46. He was carrying my sins and your sins. We need to put that in perspective and value what Jesus has done for us. He is also our mediator between God and man according to 1 Timothy 2:5 “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus”. Jesus came to bridge the gap, he became our intercessor. Nothing can be as clear as this. Some people have this erroneous belief that it is to God through one saint or the other. Jesus Christ is that mediato. It is to God through Jesus.
Jesus is also a ransom for us all according to 1 timothy 2:6 “Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time”. Jesus Christ is our ransom. As the only acceptable sacrifice, he took our sins away and nailed them on the cross. As he nailed them on the cross, he also took every curse away. The curse that came with sin, all the terrible things that are associated with sin. Every evil in the world is traceable to one instruction disobeyed. If we need to be wise, we must be people who are obedient to instructions. The greatest instruction you can obey is the instruction that come from the word of God, the one who loves us so much that he gave his only begotten son to die for us. Instructions are meant to be obeyed. Jesus Christ came to take away the presence of sin, the power of sin and the penalty of sin and became a ransom for us. He took away all the consequences that are associated with sin; distress, disease, death, affliction, oppression, poverty, scarcity, lack, spiritual separation from light and disharmony. Everything that is bad came as a result of sin. That is what Jesus came to take away, we need to celebrate him. Eph 1:7 states; “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace”. Celebrate the riches of His grace. - HE CAME TO GIVE US A LIVELY HOPE.
1 peter 1:3-4. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you”. I have an inheritance reserved for me in heaven. I have a blessed hope. I don’t know if there is anyone who has an inheritance that does not crave for it. There is no way you can have an inheritance and your heart does not go there. A lot of people are earthbound and it’s so easy to chase lower things. Take a look at the kind of life Soloon lived especially towards the end of his life. At times Iwonder, what kind of wisdom is that? How can the wisest man marry over three hundred wives? I believe that the essence of wisdom should be for one’s ultimate benefit. But then, look at what he said, Ecclesiastes 12:13-14, He said “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil”. Anytime he came under the sun he saw vanity. The reason a lot of people are chasing earthly things is because they have lost the touch with the reality and fragrance of heaven. They are going for toys instead of heavenly inheritance. Sons go for inheritance, children go for toys. One can be 169 years old and still be a child. What are you chasing?
