TRUE FAITH AND TRUE WORSHIP III

What the devil specializes in attacking is the truth side of love. That was exactly what he attacked in Eden. God is love. The ways of God according to Psa. 25:10 are mercy and truth, “All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies”. Mercy is the horizontal path of God as he relates mercy with man. Truth is the vertical path and this is the one that the devil attacks – the truth side of love. How does he do it? He does it through suggestions – “Yea, hath God said?” (Gen. 3:1). A lot of people pick just one aspect of this body of truth and make it their own doctrine and end up producing narrow theology. When you stretch truth to some extent, you will produce error. You need a balance and that balance comes only when you have the whole picture.

True success is – are you doing what God has called you to do? Are you still at the center of God’s will? If a member of your congregation is picked for sampling, will he reflect Christ?

The Church needs to return to the cross. You don’t teach a worshipper warfare, it comes naturally. The warfare has to do with chasing the devil out of the garden. When you hate what God hates, you will not entertain snakes. Whether you realize it or not, you are in the middle of very serious warfare. Your welfare is directly proportional to your warfare. Holiness will make your prayers to fly. It is only the one who is holy that can tell the devil, get lost!

What is worship? Worship is not what you do, worship is who you are. It is not that slow song you sing on Sunday morning, no. The same definition of worship is what you can give to true faith.  True faith is placement of value in our relationship with our loving heavenly Father. True worship is the same thing – worth-ship. How much is your relationship with your Father worth? Why did Jesus Christ go to the cross? Do you know that the cross of Jesus Christ is the greatest demonstration of worship? The cross was the meeting point between the will of God and the will of man; the cross is the place where the will of God crosses with the will of man. When your will crosses with the will of God, you are expected to submit. Is man ready to do this today? Jesus so humbled himself that he submitted his will to the point of going to the cross to die for rebels so that they can become sons because it is the will of the Father. It is the greatest demonstration of love. If you can understand this, you will see your life change.

You don’t force a worshipper to be committed. Commitment flows naturally, it is already part and parcel of a worshipper. You need not teach a worshipper grace because he is already full of grace. Someone says Christianity is not right living but right believing. This is a lie from the pit of hell. 1 John 2:6 says, “Anyone who says he is a Christian should live as Christ did” (TLB).

Christ did not live anyhow.  He said his meat was to do the will of his Father. Luke 9:23, “And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me”

Being a disciple entails the cross. If you remove the cross, you can never produce a disciple. Once you learn to go to the cross, the first thing that dies is self. It is the place of crucifixion. You can’t have true repentance if you are boxed up. Do you know that you can be a worship leader and still be committing sin? Such a person is not worshipping God but entertaining people and drawing attention not to God but to self. You can easily identify a person who has not been to the cross.

The cross is the symbol of complete and comprehensive sacrifice. Whoever asks you to bring anything for another sacrifice only wants to put you in bondage. Run away from such a place. The cross of Christ is the place of absolute sacrifice. It was the greatest sacrifice that was ever made and that was why Jesus said it is finished. The blood of Jesus speaks better things than the blood of bulls. Don’t put yourself again into bondage.

Pray

  • Heavenly Father, I thank you. I bless and magnify your name in Jesus’ name. I thank you for sending your son to die for me, so that I can become your child.
  • Grant me the grace to walk hand in hand with you, so that your purpose will be fulfilled in every facet of my life.
  • Make me a worshipper in spirit, and in truth in Jesus’ name.
