WHO IS YOUR SHEPHERD? 2D – (FOR HIS NAME’S SAKE)

Things that God cannot do

9. God cannot answer the prayer of a sinner.
The Bible says the sacrifice of a sinner is an abomination before God (Prov. 15:8).

10. God cannot answer the prayer of anyone with iniquity in the heart.
Psa. 66:18, “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me.” God expects you to clean up so that your prayer can fly. It is not a difficult thing at all. Iniquity is slightly different from other transgressions. A lot of people will miss the rapture because of the iniquity in their heart. Iniquity is turning away from the revealed will of God. It is very easy. A lot of people do not want to take responsibility for their actions but they want miracles. They are not interested in seeking the face of God; all they want is the hand of God but not his face. Isa. 59:1, “Behold, the LORD’S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear. But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.” You can cut short the hand of God. With iniquity in your heart, the Lord will not hear you. In engineering, there is what is called potential energy but for it to do its work, it must be converted to kinetic. Potential is energy of height and the one that operates in the highest has the highest potential. There can be energy/power loss. Jesus could do anything; he raised the dead, healed the sick, delivered the oppressed, anything at all but he could do little in his town (Mark 6:5). Why? The iniquity in the heart of the people! They decided to commonize the anointing on his life.

11. God cannot help those who are full of self.
James 4:6, “But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.” God does not just throw his grace around for everyone, he resists the proud. Pride is the idolatry of self. If you are full of self, how can God fill you? The only person whom God cannot help is the one who is full of self, he resists such a person. Many of the people who go to Church today are full of self! You cannot even correct them, if you do, they will take offence. Yet, they are very quick to quote Psalm 23 and confess that what God cannot do does not exist! God cannot help the self-full. Some people even say that heaven helps those who help themselves. Where is it written in the Bible? The exact opposite is actually the case. God helps those who cannot help themselves. There is no space for the Holy Spirit to fill the self-full.

12. God cannot answer the prayer of the faithless.
James 1:6-7, “But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord.” Without faith it is impossible to please God (Heb 11:6).

Pray –

  • Heavenly Father I thank you, I worship you, I adore you, I magnify your precious name for you are good, your mercies endure forever, your faithfulness to all generations. Graciously look into my life and cleanse me from every form of iniquity and unbelief. Roll away from me anything that can hinder your intervention in my life. Always make me holy, pure and acceptable to you in Jesus’ name. Amen.
