THE FOUNDATION OF GIVING 1E

A very great disservice has been done to the Church as it is today by erroneous theologies that teach people to give in order to get and not give because you love God. There is a very thin line between idolatry and worship. I believe in sowing, in fact, until your life becomes a seed, it cannot become a harvest. But everything I have ever done in ministry is born out of deep love for God. I am fanatically in love with God.

Worship is not what you do. It is not the slow paced songs that we sing every Sunday. Worship is your life. Mary worshipped Jesus; she gave her very best, a very costly perfume to wash the feet of Christ. The oil was so expensive that the economist amongst the disciples grumbled and complained, why waste such a costly ointment which should have been given to the poor, he said. Jesus said that she was preparing him for his burial (John 12:3-8).

Do you know that the Church would have been ten times more prosperous if we caught the act of raising worshippers? The danger in the error of “give me your gold and I will make you a god” is not new; it started after the children of Israel left Egypt in the wilderness when they asked Aaron to make them a god.

If you give in order to get, you will make your relationship with your heavenly Father transactional. How would you feel as a father if your relationship with your son is transactional? There is danger in this erroneous theology. You planted a seed of one thousand and got a billion, how about the process? What happened in between? What did you do in between? When giving their testimonies, they fail to mention the extent to which they went in terms of giving bribes, the sinful compromises, the padding up, and lies.

You don’t need to be a child of God to plant a seed and reap a harvest. It is a universal law; the law of sowing and reaping is universal. The richest people in the world today are not believers; some of them don’t even believe in anything apart from their diligence.
