BE A GOD CHASER 1D
FOUR MAJOR THINGS THAT MEN CHASE
2. Pleasure
This includes all manner of pleasure, some are not bad in themselves but some are. Examples are good food, drinks, drugs, worldly music, pornography, gambling, and gluttony. Pleasure-seeking makes godly men weak. Just one-hour dose of a worldly television program is enough to open you up to satanic attacks. The time that you should spend focusing on things that add value to your life is what you use in dissipating energy. Spiritual power is focus. What you watch matters a lot. What you hear matters a lot.
You can say that it is not what goes into a man that defiles but what goes out. The truth of the matter is that what you eat can also kill. That was why God was very specific about what his children should eat and should not eat. God is very detailed about this. Those who violate this end up killing themselves. Careless eating can lead to early death. By eating, I mean ingestion or consumption. You don’t ingest only with the mouth. The muscle you feed is the one that gets consolidated. If you feed the spirit man, of course, the spirit man will be consolidated. If you keep on feeding the carnal man, the carnal man will take over. That is the problem. You want to be a God chaser, fall in love with God and break away from the things that can put you in bondage and captivity; things that can make you weak, sink, sin or fall into temptation. They can become a trap. A godly life is a life of sanctification. You cannot ingest what the world is ingesting and not be like the world. That is part of the problem of the Church today. 1 Tim. 5:6, “But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth”. Nothing kills spiritual life like worldly pleasure. The devil knows and that is why he is promoting it. That is one of the reasons why I get concerned when the Church is veering into some things. The Church is not the place to go to get worldly pleasure. Defilement leads to disrobement; if you don’t want to be disrobed, don’t allow any trace of defilement.
3. Money.
“For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows”.1 Timothy 6:10, KJV
Jesus made a categorical statement in Matt 6:24,
“No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold on to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon”.Matthew 6:24, KJV
Both lead in two different directions. If you chase gold, you will miss God but if you chase God, you will have gold like dust. The more you pursue money, the farther you drift from God. That is one of the things that the devil is using to weaken the Church. Everything has been reduced to money. The bottom line in every worldly business is money, should it be the same in the Church? Did Jesus die for us to become billionaires?
“Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers. But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot”.1 Peter 1:18, KJV
PRAY –
- Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for your loving kindness towards me. I ask you to help me to break away from all the corruptions that are in the world through lust. Empower me by your spirit to be heavenly minded and earthly useful and fruitful in Jesus’ name, amen.
