BE A GOD CHASER 4B – QUALITIES OF GOD CHASERS II

If you follow God, you will get real results. If we imbibe the qualities of those who chase God, automatically, the blessings will flow. Are you aware that there are some blessings you don’t need to pray for? All you need do is just fulfil the requirements of God as enunciated in his word; those things will follow you automatically. That is where I want us to get to.

Qualities of those who chase God

1. They love God.
They are fanatically in love with God. You cannot fake love for God. You can say that you love God but whenever the opportunity to demonstrate this love appears, you find yourself chasing other things. You always gravitate towards your first love. That is the way it is. Love is something you have to be passionate about; if you love God, your heart will pant after him. You will say like the Psalmist in Psa. 42:1, “As the hart panteth for the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God”. What does your heart pant after? Anyone who is a God chaser is chasing him because he really loves him. You cannot feign it, it is indescribable.

When your heart pants after God, God literally becomes your song. God chasers are consummate worshippers of the living God because the very heart of worship is love. True worship is being so fanatically in love with God that the very idea of substituting that love for anything else does not even remotely exist. It is so fundamental. My desire is to raise worshippers. According to John 4:24, God is a spirit and those who worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. True worshippers are those who are so fanatically in love with God that the idea of substituting that love for anything else does not even remotely exist. God chasers chase him because they love him. What you love is what you chase. It will determine not just your choices but your pursuits. What you chase determines your direction, what you chase will always be ahead of you no matter how you try to cover it up. Jesus made a very categorical statement – you cannot worship God and mammon, (Matt. 6:24) the two are mutually exclusive.

PRAY –

• Father, do not allow me to chase shadows and miss you. Do not allow me to chase money and miss you. Do not allow me to fall to the lust of the flesh, lust of the eye, pride of life.
